Lifetime Fold-in-Half Adjustable Table Review

Bottom Line
The Lifetime 4-Foot Fold-in-Half Adjustable Table may not be designed specifically for camping, but it proves to be a worthy addition to your outdoor setup thanks to its rugged durability. Made with robust materials, the Lifetime is built to resist the sometimes adverse conditions and rough usage that come with being outdoors.
The Lifetime’s spacious tabletop provides room for several people and is enough to share a group dinner or organize gear. The high weight capacity, combined with a large surface area, makes it ideal for groups or the geared-out solo chef or camper.
When not in use, the table folds in half into a compact square. The collapsibility into a smaller profile makes it easier to travel with the Lifetime, but it’s still fairly bulky, and the table’s weight makes it especially hard to carry in hand.
The Lifetime may not make it deep into the backcountry, but its burly build and generous surface area make it an excellent option for group camping trips and even for events closer to home.
How We Tested
Gear Analyst Marion Tucker tested the Lifetime in the high desert and alpine climates of California’s Eastern Sierra, putting it to use across a range of weather and terrain and assessing it using metrics such as stability, durability, and portability. Taking it with her on several side quests in her van, she spent days using the Lifetime for meal prep and organizing climbing gear.

Stability & Durability
Durability is the defining feature of the Lifetime 4-Foot Fold-in-Half Adjustable Table and the area in which it most excels. Made from injection-molded plastic, the tabletop is weather-resistant and can withstand snow and rain. In hot desert environs, we also appreciated its white color and UV resistance, which helped it absorb less heat and stay cooler when set up in full sun. Though it holds its own in sunny conditions, the table top is not heat-resistant and cannot be used as a cooking surface with a stove or other hot items. Additionally, the tabletop is impact-proof, protecting it against cracks or other damage more common in outdoor use. To top it off, the table is built with a sturdy steel frame that boasts rust-resistance and boosts the overall longevity of the Lifetime.
The Lifetime is one of the most durable tables we’ve encountered, but it has some stability issues. We found it fairly wobbly, with a side-to-side sway that appeared when the end of the table was bumped. Though not severe enough to cause collapse, items on the surface could potentially tip over if the table is run into or hit at the right angle. Otherwise, the frame and legs keep things stable, especially under pressure.
Unlike most folding tables of its ilk, the legs on the Lifetime are adjustable. The only downside is that they are not individually adjustable, so it’s not possible to dial in a specific height for each leg when on uneven terrain. We found it easier to stick to flatter ground, since the legs make it challenging to achieve a stable, level surface on sloping or irregular terrain.

Surface Area & Weight Capacity
The Lifetime 4-Foot Fold-in-Half Adjustable Table is a great addition to your camping setup when you’re traveling with a group. The spacious tabletop comfortably seats four and, with a tighter squeeze, as many as six. We also found the generous surface area useful for organizing climbing gear and spreading out ingredients while prepping meals.
The table can hold up to 200 pounds, making it one of the highest-capacity tables we tested. Though we never got close to reaching this limit during testing, it speaks to the table’s burliness and ability to withstand pressure. The high capacity is especially practical for a table as large as the Lifetime and ensures it can easily remain sturdy and stable, even when being used by several people.
The Lifetime is an excellent choice when groups are involved. Whether camping with several friends, serving up a backyard buffet, or just in need of a flat surface to spread things out, its large tabletop provides plenty of space and a high weight capacity to support everything you want to put on it.

Portability
Since it wasn’t designed for the explicit purpose of camping, it seems safe to assume the manufacturers of the Lifetime 4-Foot Fold-in-Half Adjustable Table weren’t envisioning it being lugged into the backcountry. Consequently, portability is not the strongest aspect of the table’s design. The Lifetime is on the heavier side, especially in comparison to other tables tested, weighing just over 19 pounds. Even with its longer rectangular build, the table isn’t so big that one person can’t carry it. We were able to move it from one spot to another at our campsite without issue. But we definitely preferred only having to hike the table short distances due to its weight.
The Lifetime is collapsible, folding in half when not in use. However, even in its collapsed state, it remains a large square shape. Though the profile of the folded table is moderately slim, it’s still bulky. We found that when transporting the table in our car trunk, it was easiest to put it on the floor, laying any bags or boxes on top. Still, transporting the Lifetime requires some intentionality.
The table has a built-in carry handle when collapsed, making it much easier to haul. Due to the bulkiness of the table, though, it’s not comfortable to carry for extended periods of time in one hand. It’s ultimately more practical to use the Lifetime when your campsite is closer to the car. But its foldable design does streamline the process of getting it wherever you need to go.

Ease of Use & Height
The Lifetime 4-Foot Fold-in-Half Adjustable Table comes together in a matter of seconds with an intuitive, straightforward setup. Simply open the halves of the table and fold out the legs. The only catch is that the locking mechanism, which keeps the table together when folded, needs to be released. We initially missed this when first assembling the Lifetime and were confused why the table was stuck in its folded position, but we quickly figured out our mistake, and subsequent setups were a breeze. We have also come to like the lock, which keeps the table compact and prevents it from unexpectedly splitting open when in storage or transit.
The legs on the Lifetime can be set to four different heights. Its tallest setting is comfortable for standing height, which we found useful for organizing gear and meal prep. The three lower settings make it especially easy to use the table with camping chairs, which often sit lower and can vary in height. While simultaneously testing the best camping chairs, we found Lifetime’s height settings accommodate a range of seat types, ensuring seamless integration into your camp furniture setup.
Setting up the Lifetime on our own, we did have difficulty adjusting the legs without a second pair of hands. The legs have pins on each side that slot into holes to lock them in place. The pins need to be pushed in simultaneously to extend or retract the legs. It’s tricky to depress both pins and also adjust the leg height when you’re by yourself, but with a friend, it’s no problem.
Despite a few sticking points that are a bit harder to handle solo, the Lifetime has a simple setup that makes it quick to go from storage to ready-to-use. The table’s height settings offer versatility, allowing it to fit with whatever camping chair you’ve already got at home.

Should You Buy the Lifetime 4-Foot Fold-in-Half Adjustable Table?
If you’re in need of a table that can accommodate your next group outing, the Lifetime 4-Foot Fold-in-Half Adjustable Table is a simple, no-frills option with a surface big enough for you and a few friends. It’s a perfect choice for when you want to fit everyone around the table at the campsite. And four adjustable height settings make it easy to use the table no matter your chair setup.
It’s not intentionally designed for the outdoors, which makes it heavier than most camping-specific tables. However, its use of heavier-duty materials adds to the table’s overall durability and ability to withstand rough conditions. Its weight isn’t ideal for carrying the table long distance, but the Lifetime’s foldable design does simplify transport. Those who primarily travel solo or with a partner will probably find the Lifetime overkill for their needs and if your campsite requires a hike, there are other lighter and more portable tables available.
Whether you’ve got a big backyard gathering or camping with a group, though, the Lifetime ensures you’ll have the space you need in a design that’s made to last.
