YETI Rambler Water Bottle Review

Bottom Line
The YETI brand prides itself on high-performance insulation, and the YETI Rambler lives up to its reputation for superior insulation and rugged durability. This exceptionally durable bottle can withstand the roughest conditions and offers a wide range of color and accessory choices for comprehensive customization. That’s why it ranks near the top of the water bottles we recommend.
Although it is the heaviest bottle we tested, the Rambler is well-suited for outdoor use at basecamp or a day climbing at the crag. Its insulating prowess exceeds expectations. Plus, it’s built for longevity, designed to survive all your rough and tumble adventures. If you’re looking for a durable, stainless steel water bottle with stellar insulation, the Yeti Ramblers is one of our faves.
How We Tested

Durability
Built with high quality materials, the YETI Rambler is designed to survive whatever abuse or tough conditions you might put it through. YETI fabricates its bottle with burly kitchen-grade stainless steel that’s made to resist punctures and remain intact for years. In our Utah test hikes, we put it through numerous drop tests and loved how the steel withstood several falls onto hard and sometimes jagged surfaces. The Rambler endured these falls without sustaining any damage other than a couple scuffs to the exterior paint.
This stainless steel bottle proved adept at handling everything from everyday drops to the tumult of more extreme environments. Resisting damage in our tests, YETI’s construction cements its status as a water bottle that will last.

Ergonomics
Although burly, the Rambler is both utilitarian and aesthetically pleasing. Its design elements promote drinkability and improve the user experience. The Rambler has a clean, cylindrical design that’s visually appealing. It fits into pockets and packs but is too big to fit into a cup holder.
Unlike other brands, YETI produces four unique lids for use with the Rambler.
We particularly liked using the Chug Cap. Its spout was wide enough for fast flow drinking but small enough for spill-free drinking in motion. A removable cover protects the Chug Cap mouthpiece, sealing firmly to eliminate leaks and featuring a built-in carry handle that fits securely in hand.
Regardless of which cap you use, the YETI bottle offers wide mouth access to add ice or hydration mixes. Courtesy of the wide mouth opening, hand washing is simple. Although, the bottle is also dishwasher safe.

Insulation
Aside from durability, insulation is the Rambler’s greatest asset. Featuring double wall vacuum insulation, the YETI accommodates both cold and hot liquids.
We put the Rambler’s insulating powers to the test on miles-long hikes in the sunny Utah desert. Stashed in the pocket of our pack and subject to shifting desert temperatures, the bottle not only held beverages at their intended temperature for the entire day but kept ice frozen for nearly just as long. Insulated bottles can struggle with maintaining heat. However, the Rambler edged comparable models in its ability to keep hot liquids hot. If you want a water bottle that keeps cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot, the YETI is one of the most reliable and effective options in our water bottle guide.

Weight
The biggest detractor of the Rambler is its bulk. Weighing in at 24 ounces, it is the heaviest bottle we tested by a longshot. The YETI excels in durability and insulation, but that robust steel and insulation cost this bottle in weight.
The Rambler’s heft makes it less practical for long distance water carry and backpacking trips. Even the moderately ounce-conscious might balk at the weight. We noticed this weight after just a few hours of hiking and found it to be a lingering source of discomfort. Overall, this bottle is better for travel, campgrounds, and more casual use, given its weight.

Features
YETI offers a plethora of customization features to tailor the Rambler to your personal preferences. When it comes to customization, most brands stop at color choice. The YETI not only comes in dozens of colors but also offers a range of accessories and 18, 26, 36, 46, and 64 ounce sizes – plenty of options. YETI takes lid choice to the next level, too, offering four unique styles compatible with the Rambler model: the Magdock Cap with magnetic cover, the Chug Cap for easy gulping, the Straw Cap, and the Hotshot Cap for hot liquids. Whatever and however you’re drinking, the Rambler has a lid for you.

Should You Buy the YETI Rambler Water Bottle?
If you value durable design, high quality construction, and stand out insulation, the YETI Rambler is an ideal choice. Made with top grade steel, the Rambler is built to last. Its ability to insulate hot liquids just as well as cold also makes the Rambler a versatile water bottle for cool water on a summer hike or a morning coffee that stays toasty for hours. Its substantial weight makes it impractical for long hikes or multi-day backpacking trips, and it will cost you more than most water bottles. However, considering its exceptional insulation and remarkable durability, the YETI Rambler may be a worthy investment that you won’t have to think about replacing for years.
