Bottom Line

If you prefer curling up with a partner, sharing heat with a loved one, or catching Z’s snuggled with your dog, the NEMO Jazz 30 Double is the premium two-person bag of your dreams. Thanks to its smart features and smart design, it’s one of only two double sleeping bags to make the cut on our best sleeping bags for camping guide .

Senior Gear Analyst Ian Krammer’s slept over 20 nights in the Jazz Double 30. It’s been his go-to for sharing with his pup for two years – and counting. He loves the features on this bag, like the massive, oversized draft collar and cozy integrated sheet, which makes it feel more like a bed than a sleeping bag. The Jazz’s hood has room for side-by-side pillows and a small mesh pocket on both sides for small items. The wrap-around zipper can be adjusted on the left and right, and the top layer can be completely removed. If luxurious camping is top priority, this one is a winner.

But the Jazz 30 Double isn’t without flaws. At nearly 9 pounds, it’s bulky and heavy, and the duffel-style storage bag is enormous. The single bedsheet can catch on baselayers and detach with just a bit of movement, which gets annoying. And, this is one of the priciest sleeping bags we’ve tested, putting it out of reach for some. However, if the size and cost aren’t dealbreakers, the NEMO Jazz 30 Double is a top-tier choice for ultimate comfort – and one of the most decked-out two person setups on the market.

Comfort

The NEMO Jazz 30 Double is one of the coziest sleeping bags we’ve tested for two. Whether we’re sharing with a partner or sprawling out solo with a dog, the extra-wide rectangular shape gives us plenty of space to stretch, roll, and shift positions without feeling confined. The oversized hood fits two full-size pillows side by side for a restful setup similar to home, or you can stuff a small camp pillow – or a hoodie – into the pillow pockets for built-in comfort.

The Jazz 30 Double also has a soft polyester bedsheet that clips to the sides, giving it a plush, bed-like feel we don’t get from most camping bags. We love the dual two-way zippers, too, so both people can control their own airflow. If one person is overheating they can unzip their side without affecting their partner. The oversized draft collar makes the top feel like a big, cushy blanket – tuck it in for warmth, or flip it out for breathability.

Our only major gripe? The bedsheet comes undone easily and we find the sheet is disconnected more often than not. Our testing finds it doesn’t take much tension to disconnect the sheet, especially if you move a lot. Its snap buttons aren’t super secure, and while the fabric is luxuriously soft, it has a habit of clinging to base layers. That said, it’s a minor complaint. Isf you want the best of the best when it comes to comfort, the Jazz 30 Double leads the pack with a perfect score.

Warmth

If staying warm is a must for you and your camping partner (or your four-legged adventure buddy), the NEMO Jazz 30 Double has you covered in temps above 45°F. The oversized draft collar wraps around like a big, cushy barrier against cold air, while the insulated hood keeps heat from escaping overnight by keeping you snug and cozy. Thick synthetic fill, draft tubes along the zippers, and a built-in polyester bedsheet work together to create a cozy, snuggle-ready sleep system. This sleeping bag dovetails perfectly with the Nemo Roamer Double sleeping pad, which landed at the top of our best camping mattresses guide, though it works with most models.

Unlike most double bags, the Jazz 30 Double features dual two-way zippers that run all the way down to the footbox on both sides. This makes it easy to slip in and out without disturbing your partner, and it’s great for venting excess heat when the night warms up.

The bag is rated to 32°F, but we’ve found that’s optimistic. Our testing finds the Jazz 30 Double is chilly in temps below 45°F, even when sharing with a partner. We noticed cold spots throughout the bag on colder nights, mostly in the footbox. But, keep in mind this is a warm weather bag that thrives between 45°F and 70°F. When paired with a well-insulated sleeping mattress, this is a reliable three-season bag from May through October.

Packed Size

The NEMO Jazz 30 Double has a huge packed footprint – 33 by 16 inches – and tips the scales at nearly 9 pounds. The bulk stems from plush features, thick insulation, and the sheer amount of materials. If trunk or storage space is at a premium, its size could be a downside.

That said, the Jazz is easy to transport, and these dimensions aren’t much bigger than two individual sleeping bags. And, NEMO’s storage solution for the Jazz is one of our favorites: a huge duffel bag that’s a breeze to schlep between vehicle and campsite.  This thing is generously oversized and a bit stretchy, with a big wrap-around zipper and long double handles. It can hold both the bag and a double sleeping pad without separating the two – simply roll them like a bedroll for a fast tear down and quick setup.

Features

When it comes to features, NEMO’s Jazz 30 Double is our north star. It offers an unbeatable blend of luxury and functionality that no other sleeping bag on our list can match.

It has an integrated pad sleeve – the only model on our list that offers this feature. The pad sleeve works with most double-wide sleeping mattresses, but it dovetails perfectly with the NEMO Roamer Double, a camping mattress with the same dimensions, to prevent your bag from slipping around as you move in the night.

We love that each side of the bag’s hood has a mesh pocket for each person. It’s snag-free, wrap-around zipper that makes it easy to adjust ventilation, and this top can unzip completely from a separate blanket around camp.

The NEMO Jazz 30 Double has plenty to love, but there’s a few cons. The snap-on bedsheet regularly came loose during our testing as two people moved around in the night, and was a bit disruptive and frustrating to fix in the middle of the night. Also, the sleeping pad sleeve does a great job of keeping your setup in place – though it needs to fit the pad snugly, as smaller models can feel a bit slippery inside the extra fabric. Still, if luxury features are what you’re after, the Nemo Jazz 30 Double delivers.

Should You Buy The NEMO Jazz 30 Double?

The NEMO Jazz 30 Double is best suited for couples, families, dog lovers and car campers who want the gold standard for comfort and space. It comfortably fits two people, with plenty of room to spread out in a cushy, soft-to-the touch interior. The integrated pillow pocket, huge floppy draft collar, and polyester bed sheet elevate the comfort factor, making it feel like a cozy bed. A wrap-around zipper allows excellent ventilation for customized airflow, and the sleeping pad sleeve keeps everything in place during the night. Car campers who don’t mind a larger packed size will also appreciate the spacious storage duffel and easy packing process.

On the other hand, this sleeping bag may miss the mark in a few ways. Its heavy weight and bulky packed size can be a challenge if trunk space and storage space are tight. The bedsheet comes off with minimal effort and regular tossing and turning, which can be obnoxious. But the main reason this bag is further down the list? It’s expensive. The Jazz 30 Double costs more than most synthetic double options out there. That said, we think it’s worth every penny – you won’t find a more comfortable or feature-forward double bag on the market. From plush comfort to smart design, it’s a boujee and fabulous camping experience for two.

What Other Camping Sleeping Bags Should You Consider?

Wondering how the Jazz 30 Double compares? Check out our guide to the best camping sleeping bags. Here are some outstanding alternatives to the Jazz 30 Double:

Kelty Tru.Comfort Doublewide 20 Review – The Doublewide 20 is our other top pick for a two person sleeping bag. It’s cozy and affordable, and we prefer the blanket system on this bag since they can’t come off when rolling over, although it’s not quite as warm or cushy.

The REI Siesta Hooded 20 Review – The REI Siesta Hooded 20 is comfy and has a warm, spacious design for a more affordable price tag with many shared features. It zips together with another Siesta for shared space, and also comes in a double version.

The North Face Wawona 20 Review – The North Face Wawona 20 provides a similar level of comfort. The Wawona is a single sleeping bag without a hood, but we love that two can be zipped together. It’s a stellar cost-effective bag for one – or two – in warmer conditions.
