How We Tested

We tested the Huk Rogue Wave over a 60-day period along Lake Superior’s wavy, wet shoreline and wore them during soggy spring hikes and outdoor work in light rain and puddles.

Weather Resistance

Comfort

Plus, the cushioned EVA footbed provides solid support for long days on your feet. 

It’s not as heavily insulated as some winter boots, but the moisture-wicking lining helps keep feet dry on warmer days. That’s the recipe for moderate conditions where comfort is a priority.

Traction

The Huk Rogue Wave’s slip-resistant outsole is one of its standout features. It’s intentionally designed to provide reliable grip on slippery docks, boats, or rain-soaked boardwalks. However, if you’re looking for a boot with extreme traction for snowy conditions, you might want to consider a heavier-duty boot with more aggressive lugs. 

Warmth

This neoprene boot lacks insulation for freezing conditions, but the Rogue Wave provides more than adequate warmth for moderate temperatures. Working in temps around 40 degrees tested the Rogue’s limits. If you’re seeking a boot to handle deep winter conditions, look at a more insulated option. This boot is better for transitional weather and cooler spring or fall days.
