The Evernew Pasta Pot is a capable cookset in a minimalist, ultralight package. With an overall weight of 4.4 ounces, it’s one of the lightest cooksets on our guide to the best backpacking cookpots, as well as one of the most featured.

Compared to other ultralight, titanium cooksets, the Evernew Pasta Pot 1L is a backcountry chef’s dream. Although titanium isn’t the best surface to cook on, the Pasta Pot includes thoughtful features like a pour spout, drain holes, and a wide diameter for easy maneuvering. The insulated pot handles are another thoughtful addition that enhances overall comfort.

A standout feature is the tight-fitting lid. Sure, it’s a little finicky at times, but it offers excellent stability for draining and food storage. The tight lid also increases the pot’s durability, helping it maintain its shape over time.

After taking the Pasta Pot camping in the Rockies and analyzing it from every angle, we’ve determined that it is among the most capable ultralight cooksets. The feature set and impressive lightweight durability offer an incredible value for thru-hikers and weekend backpackers alike.

How We Tested

Our team has cooked hundreds of backcountry meals with these cooksets from the deserts of the PCT to the high peaks of the Colorado Trail. We also put them under our backpacker microscope in the lab, testing qualities like non-stick, heat distribution, cleanability, and more.

Cooking Performance

The Evernew Pasta Pot 1L isn’t the best pot for elaborate cooking, but it does offer a few thoughtful features that make it stand out among ultralight titanium pots.

Titanium is not known for its non-stick qualities. It’s thin, heats up extremely fast, and has the tendency to burn food. The advantage of titanium is its impressive strength-to-weight ratio.

In our testing, we timed water boiling, cooked an egg, and noted the ease of cleaning it afterwards. The Evernew Pasta Pot showed an overall average performance compared to similar titanium pots. 

Where it shines above the rest is the large diameter and cooking volume. The sheer spaciousness of this pot makes it easier to cook with. It heats food more evenly and boils water quickly. With a wide mouth, it’s easier to keep an eye on your meal and get utensils in there. 

The Pasta Pot 1L is excellent for people who are big eaters or enjoy a little more cookability without sacrificing pack weight.

Weight & Packability

The Evernew Pasta Pot 1L is an ultralight pot that offers a little extra space for big eaters or couples.

With an overall weight of 4.4 ounces (including the stuff sack and lid) the Pasta Pot is the second lightest cookware that we tested. It hardly adds any weight to your pack, but it is still a spacious and very capable cooking pot.

Since larger capacity cooksets are obviously going to be heavier, we also view weight and packability in terms of their capacity-to-weight ratio. 

The Pasta Pot yields an impressive 323mL per ounce of weight. However, the advertised 1L capacity is a stretch, with 1 liter of water almost spilling over the brim. The more realistic 900mL capacity still puts the Pasta Pot at 290mL per ounce.

The larger 1-liter pot size, with a packed volume of about 119 cubic inches obviously takes up more space than the smaller 750 mL version. However, it does open up the ability to carry up to an 8-ounce fuel canister and other accessories inside the pot.

The Pasta Pot also comes with an oversized stuff sack to keep everything contained.

Usability

While many ultralight, titanium cooksets are designed with minimalism in mind, the Pasta Pot manages to incorporate additional features without significantly increasing its weight. Such features include insulated folding handles, a lid with drain holes, measurement markings (milliliters and ounces), and a pour spout.

Unlike other handles that tend to get hot over a stove, the Pasta Pot’s rubber-coated handles not only add insulation from the heat but also provide a better grip. Although the handles do get a bit warm, the insulation helps tremendously.

The lid of the Pasta Pot features many drain holes compared to most pots as well as a pressure release hole on the opposite side to avoid splashing and spilling. 

The lid fits extremely tightly, which is both a pro and a con. The downside is that it takes some finesse to remove and cover, sometimes requiring two hands. 

On the upside, the lid offers a very secure fit for draining or cold soaking. We were even able to drain ramen without holding the lid in place. With most pots, the stuff sack serves to secure everything in place, but with the tight lid, one could easily omit the use of the stuff sack.

Durability

The Evernew Pasta Pot is one of the more durable titanium cooksets that we tested. Titanium is inherently a durable material, but when it is as thin as an ultralight pot, it tends to warp over time. Although the material is extremely thin, the Pasta Pot’s tight lid helps the pot keep its shape when stored properly. 

The pot handles feel sturdy, but the lid handle is the most noticeable weak point in the Pasta Pot’s construction. It is made of plastic with a single attachment point. Although it gets the job done, we would have liked to see a sturdier handle to complement the tight lid.

Should You Buy the Evernew Titanium Pasta Pot?

The Pasta Pot 1L is an excellent choice for ultralight soloists and couples who value a fully featured pot without sacrificing weight savings. Its one-liter capacity and wider diameter accommodate heartier meals, and it offers a simple yet capable cooking performance.

Where other ultralight cooksets fall short, the Pasta Pot excels with numerous features that make cooking in the backcountry feel less rugged. The generous drain holes, pressure release, and effective pour spout expand its range of use to almost any thru-hiker cooking style. The cozy, insulated pot handles enhance comfort and reduce burn potential. 

The Pasta Pot’s price point is just below average compared to the other cooksets we tested. When considering the number of useful features, Evernew offers exceptional value for a one-liter titanium pot. Although titanium is durable and lightweight, it doesn’t offer the best non-stick or heat distribution for true backcountry gourmets, and the one-liter capacity might not suit the most minimalist thru-hikers.
