Red, Yellow, Green: What the Colours Mean
Dashboard symbols aren’t always things to worry about. In fact, the first thing you should pay attention to is the symbol colour. That’s what tells you what to do next: find a service centre right away or keep driving as if nothing happened. Dashboard symbols can come in several colours. Here’s what they mean:
- Red — stop what you’re doing and fix the problem ASAP (this is a potential safety risk);
- Yellow or amber — caution is advised, but you can continue driving with care until you reach your destination or a service centre;
- Green or blue — the system is on and working exactly as it should.
So, simply by understanding the meanings of the different symbol colours, you can already get a better idea of what to do and whether it’s actually time to panic.
Red Jeep Dashboard Symbols and Meanings
These dashboard symbols serve as warning lights, and they’re red for a reason. The red colour indicates a safety issue, and that means you need to address the problem immediately. If you see one of these symbols, find a safe place to pull over and address the situation.
Master Warning Light
A glowing triangle with an exclamation point in the center means that one or more problems have been detected. In most cases, another warning light comes on at the same time to give you more context. For example, the master warning light + the battery symbol can indicate a charging issue. Anyway, try to fix the problem as soon as possible, or get your Jeep diagnosed to identify and repair any faulty components.
Oil Pressure Warning
This symbol, which looks like a dripping oil can, lights up when the engine oil pressure is too low. There may be several reasons for this:

Low Fuel Warning
If you see a dashboard symbol that looks like a gas pump, it’s time to hunt for a gas station. Yes, this warning can be annoying at times, but it’s definitely better than being stuck in the middle of the road. Low Coolant Indicator
This box-like dashboard symbol may or may not include a downward-pointing arrow. It indicates that you need to add coolant to prevent the system from overheating. Typically, coolant circulates in a closed system. Therefore, if the coolant level is low, you probably have a leak that needs to be repaired ASAP.
Transmission Oil Temperature Indicator
The symbol that looks like a thermometer inside a sun or reads “A/T OIL TEMP” tells you about overheating. This issue can eventually cause the transmission to fail, so pull over and let your Jeep cool down.

Electric Throttle Control Warning

Green and Blue Jeep Dashboard Symbols and Meanings

Turn Signal

Fog Lamps

Auto High Beams

Park Lamps

Drive Mode Active
Words like SNOW, SPORT, TRACK, or CUSTOM lighting up just confirm which mode you picked. Select one of them. If it doesn’t light up, try again (it probably wasn’t registered).
4WD Engaged
If you see a gold “4WD” badge, that means the system is in use. If it instead reads “SERV 4WD,” that isn’t a green light anymore. It’s time to start looking for a service centre because your system needs service.

Adaptive Cruise Control Indicators
The symbol that looks like a car and a dial, or the text reading “ACC” in green, tells you that adaptive cruise control is on. If these symbols light up orange and an exclamation point appears next to them, it means there’s a problem with the system.
Electronic Stability Control Indicator
The Jeep dashboard symbol that looks like a car with wavy lines spreading out from behind it means your vehicle’s stability control system is active. It often activates when driving on a slick or slippery road. If you see this symbol with an exclamation point, a wrench next to it, or a diagonal line through it, you should get the system checked by a mechanic.
